421. JOHN7 PENDLETON (Thomas*, Lieut. Peleg", Col. William4,
Joseph3}, was born 4 May, 1799, and died at Hope, Me., 14 August,
1846. After his father's death he lived with his uncle, William8
Pendleton, at Islesboro, Me., and when he grew to manhood, removed
to the mainland and engaged in farming. He married Betsey Gould,
born 12 November, 1806, died at East Union, Me., 25 May, 1902,
daughter of William and Lucana (Cole) Gould. She married (2),
7 August, 1854, Hiram Wentworth. One month before her death
she contributed in an eight-page letter full record of her children
and grandchildren, her handwriting being clear and firm in spite of
her ninety-five years.
