The following information came from Donovan Bowley in an email dated May 29, 2008.
William Bowley died 30 August, 1856.He
was the husband of Sarah Philbrick, daughter of Enoch Philbrick. William
was one of the five sons of Ephraim Bowley, builder of the first sawmill
in South Hope, near Abel Fish's grist mill. With his brothers Ephraim and
George, he served in the War of 1812 at Camden in the height of the fear
of British invasion in September of 1814, in Capt. James Weed's Company,Lt.
Col. Erastus Foote's Regiment. He served in a second call-up from 11 October
to 19 November in Capt. Calvin Curtis' Company of Lt. Col. Foote's Regiment.
