D.H. Mansfield
Inscribed to the memory of Rev. D. H. Mansfield
by S. Milligan
Rest faithful soldier, rest,
Lay by thine arms the contest now is over,
The victory (won?);- rest for the battle's call
Shall summon thee no more.
Thou hast endured the (toil?).
And faltered not in the fiercest strife
??bly thou hast endured and justly won
Through Christ thy crown of life.
Thy brethren in the field.
That hardy, brave, and noble hearted band,
In Zion's ranks oft from their side shall miss
Thy strong and fearless hand
The church to which thy love,
And toil and strength have for long years been given
Will miss the voice that oft hath cheered her
. rough way to heaven.
..brothers and sisters (dear?)
