Hope Historical Society
Minutes for August 18, 2026

The meeting was called to order by President, Marie Berry at 6:30 P.M. Those attending were Margaret Morse, Gwen Brodis, Cindy Della Penna, Linda Hillgrove, Ruth Winchenbach, Dana Winchenbach, Jean Payne, Ann Ludwig Leadbetter, Sonja Howard, Mary Ireland, Juanita Hunt, Ron Smith, Scott Pease, Catherine Pease, Emily Saladino, Peter Saladino, Bill Jones, Judith Jones, Linda Black and Bruce Linthicum and Jean Payne was our guest.

The Secretary's Report will have some updates ( Marie and Catherine helped at the Information table) (Beth, Cindy and Jim covered the Open House) a motion was made and seconded to accept said Minutes.

Sonia Howard, Treasurer, reported an Income of $348.38; Expenses of $545.67.

Marie said sales of items totalled around $155.00 on Hope Day. Catherine Pease said people thought the Scavener Hunt list was too hard but there was a large turnout for tours at the HHS home with 33 signatures. Some people did not sign in which would have made for a larger turnout. Sonja will get an estimate from Robert McDonald on painting both ends of the house. Beth Gindle going to help convert some of our DVD collection to digital.

Ann Leadbetter and Mary Ireland are volunteers for upcoming open house on Friday the 21st. Hope Day open house received 33 visitors with some not signing the guest book.

Sonja reminded us that the Yard and Craft Sale will be at Gwen Brodis' garage in Hope, rain or shine on September 19th and 20th.

Hope Apple Fest will be held October 11th at Hope Orchard and we will be selling raffle tickets, crafts and homemade apple desserts.

Around 20 people from local historical societies have signed up for the Midcoast Historical gathering taking place at the Hope Fire Station. There will be a tour of the HHS home in the morning and the meeting and lunch will be at the Hope Fire Station. Guests are asked to bring their own lunch and we will provide the desserts and drinks. We will be sharing information on the past and present plans for the future.

Robert Pearse will be the speaker at our September 15th meeting regarding his family and farming. Hank Lunn is the speaker for the October 20th Annual meeting.
