MINUTES FOR JULY 18TH, 2017
The meeting was called to order by Vice President, Marie Berry, at 7:00 P.M. Those attending were Marie Berry, Gwen Brodis, Ann Leadbetter, Bob Appleby, Ron Smith, Bill Jones, Mary Ireland, Juanita Hunt, James DellaPenna, Cynthia DellaPenna, Bill Borch, Linda Hillgrove with guests, Mary Ann Ostersen, George Ostersen, Stephen Wadsworth, Donald Burke, Lorna and Griffth Winthrop and speaker, Henry Lunn.
SECRETARYS REPORT: Treasurer, Gwen Brodis, reported on the finances for June with Total Income: $1,910.83. EXPENSES: Speaker, Dave Edwards, $25.00; Central Maine, $24.36; Pen Bay Oil/Service, $1,808.30; Interstate Septic, $60.00; Alex Ludwig, replaced septic pipe $499.08; TOTAL SAVINGS: $11,195.26; CHECKING: $288.99. NEW BUSINESS: Bill Jones explained the bottle redemption process which raises funds for the Historical Society. Call Bill if you are unable to deliver bottles to Coastal Opportunities on 35 Limerock Street, Camden.
Marie Berry will open the HHS home on August 4th and September 1st from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. to assist visitors with any inquiries. Gwen and Donovan are available to assist visitors on Mondays from 9 A.M. to 12 Noon.

PROGRAM CHAIR: Program chairperson, Ann Leadbetter, introduced Henry Lunn who shared an informative history of how he became a Son the Revolution. The families, Porter and Chase moved from Kingston, R.I. to Freetown, MA as Loyalists in 1775. Son, Abiel Chase, at 16 years old, joined the Militia on their trek to Quebec explaining the trials and tribulations the men experienced as well as the clothes, food and accessories they carried.
Kerry Hardy will discuss his studies and fieldwork on old roads in the mid coast from Indian trails to LIDAR images in his pursiot of knowledge of how our ancestors got around on this land at our August 15th, meeting at 7 P.M.
September 19th will be our day time field trip to Bishopswood.
Judith Jones and Juanita Hunt will provide refreshments for the August 15th meeting.
